What Is TextExpander (and text expansion) TextExpander is one of many text expansion softwares available for developers and everyday computer users alike. We hope this gets you started with some of the great stuff you can do with the TextExpander Keyboard for iOS and Snippet Keys. With the TextExpander custom keyboard in iOS 8 and later, TextExpander will have the kind of ubiquity it has on the Mac. Yep, the TextExpander Keyboard is pretty awesome Tap the (t) button again to switch back to a keyboard layout.Tap one to instantly expand it in the current text area.Tap the (t) button in the lower left, next to the Space bar to switch to your Snippet Keys.You can modify any of the default abbreviations. To add one, click on the plus in the bottom left of the main app window and select the Add Predefined Group dropdown. (Optional) Tap Edit for the option rearrange them and add more TextExpander comes with a number of optional Predefined Snippets like Emoji or Accented Words.Tap Done, and you should now see your list of available Snippet Keys With TextExpander (Mac, iOS), just set up a snippet abbreviation, the text, and you’re done.Tap the Settings gear > Snippet Keys, then the (+) key to start picking snippets you’d like to have at your fingertips.If you need help wrapping your head around the concept, check out the video (and instructions below) on how it works, because it’s pretty awesome: TextExpander is a registered trademark of Smile. This allows you to switch the TextExpander keyboard into a sort of “snippet board,” where the snippets you choose get their own button each, for one tap expansion.
